Events Blogtown Movie Night Tonight! (with secret snacks!)

I kid you not, the Portland Mercury is now in possession of a bag of genuine movie popcorn the size of an easychair. Food editor Patrick Alan Coleman soon plans to shower this popcorn with a "secret blend of herbs and spices" (all he would say is: truffle salt) and dish it up to anyone who stops by the Mercury offices tonight for our much-awaited movie night!

We're screening bombs-and-bikinis classic Hard Ticket to Hawaii tonight in our parking lot as soon as it gets dark—everyone is invited to come by at 7:30PM to hang out, drink beer and sample the secret TrufflecornTM.

Bring a chair or blanket and something to drink! Our parking lot is located at NE 21st and Hoyt, just north of Club 21 on Sandy.

Truffle salt on movie popcorn? That seems like it would ruin both things.

@Graham
We'll have some chairs, mostly of the broken office variety. Bringing your own would not be a bad idea if you are concerned about the ergonomics of your viewing experience.

Okay. For clarification: After a few drinks at the club, I'll be returning to the office to make my own popcorn on the stove in the Merc office (I've brought my popcorn pot, various ingredients, butter, peanut oil, etc). One of the ingredients is indeed truffle salt (bought from The Meadow on Mississippi, not made by me personally). I'm popping an entire 2 lb bag of organic yellow popcorn, seasoning it, bagging it and handing it out to you in hopes that you'll not heckle me during my introduction to the film. I'm afraid the truffle issue might be trumped up. It'll be subtle, I assure you.

Once my corn is gone. We switch to the movie popcorn bag. Hopefully we'll be too drunk to give a shit.

I'm going to make it if you can. I have to catch the 3-d Final Destination screening at 10pm, and need to hunt down a wedding gift before heading to the Cape tomorrow. I might just swing by tonight and say a quick hello if I'm in the area.

I'll make it to one of these meet-ups soon, I promise. I think the public has warmed up enough to A CAT 2.0 that I can comfortably de-cloak.
