SENATOR CHIP SHIELDS ENDORSES LEW FREDERICK FOR HIS OLD HOUSE SEAT!!! Frederick put out the following Facebook update this morning:
“I am impressed that Lew really knows our District and its people," says Shields. "He has campaigned in it for years, and talked to thousands of our neighbors in his run for County Commissioner. The district also knows him, and he carried it in his County race.”Shields also cited Frederick’s experience on the State Board of Education: “His knowledge of statewide education issues is extensive, and he will be an asset to the House and to the caucus as we grapple with complicated education issues.”
Evidently Shields didn't feel Frederick was a "known quantity" like the Oregonian did, when it endorsed Karol Collymore for the position without calling Frederick first. I'm at city hall this morning but we'll have more on this story in the afternoon.

Update, 10:21 am: We asked Collymore for a comment on the Shields/Frederick endorsement over Twitter:
No comment so far on that front, but blogger Lelo in Nopo asked for a fashion update, which was duly supplied!
Collymore also linked me and OPB reporter April Baer to this post on Blue Oregon, showing Stand For Children plans to endorse her for the seat.
