Tweet Pics of Spencer Burton's Samba?

Posted by Matt Davis on Tue, Dec 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM

City council candidate Spencer Burton just called—he's headed down to PSU with a samba band called—if I heard correctly—Tap Water. They should be down there in about 45 minutes, for about an hour and a half, and he'll be gathering signatures and giving a speech. It's the Mercury's press day, which means we're all hands on deck here in the news room and I'm unlikely to make it down, but if you happen to see Burton and his samba band at PSU, would you please take a picture and either email me or Twitpic those babies with the hashtag #spencerburtonsamba. Any comments you can "citizen report" from passersby would also be more than welcome. In the mean time I'll leave you with this:

SPENCER BURTON: SAMBATASTIC (THIS IS AN ARTISTS RENDERING)
  • SPENCER BURTON: SAMBATASTIC (THIS IS AN "ARTIST'S" RENDERING)

Update, 11:24

Tapwater aren't a samba band, according to Mercury music editor Ezra Caraeff. They describe themselves on their Myspace page as "World Twang," which seems to be a variety of Hippie Jam music. We still want a photo.

Tapwater was that friendly jam band that came to the office and serenaded us that one day. More bands should do that. Although, we may then forget their name.
