Portland, Test Your Mettle: H&M is Coming

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Fri, Dec 18, 2009 at 4:27 PM

Oh shit. After years of talks, the Oregonian is reporting that H&M is finally coming to Portland. Can you withstand the affordability of its chic basics, and its infuriatingly eye catching collaborations with exciting fashion designers? Can you? (Can I?) Oh crap.

Last month, the retailer launched a line of Jimmy Choo shoes — a designer made popular by the women of the HBO series "Sex and the City." The spikey shoes, sold at a limited number of H&M locations, typically cost between $175 and $1,095 at high-end retailers. They were $50 to $200 at H&M.

I need a cold shower.

Dear God, my prayers have been answered!!! I'm hyperventilating. All we need now is Seattle's Womens Olympus Spa and I'll never have to leave Portland. Ever.

I have to agree with Graham. H & M has definitely gotten cheaper and cheaper along with the durability and quality of their clothes. A month before I moved out of NYC I dropped 150 dollars at H & M only to have everything either rip, have a hole after one wear, lose a button or break a zipper. bummer city....

STILL, I AM a bit excited by this.

@Graham: "H & M; the Ikea of fashion."
Ahhhh, that statement made my nipples hard. I love them both. The only way they could make it better would be to just add another floor to IKEA and move H&M in there. "H&MIKEA" has a nice ring!
