TV Jay Leno Replacing Conan O'Brien?

That's the rumor according to TMZ! (Who doesn't always have the greatest track record when it comes to reliability.)

Jay Leno is going back to his 11:30 PM time slot, and it's looking like Conan O'Brien is the odd man out ... sources tell TMZ.

We've learned Jay's 10:00 PM show will go on hiatus February 1. After the Olympics, Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided — whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien.

We're told Jay and Conan have both been told of the changes. As for Jay, interestingly, he'll get what he always wanted — his 11:30 PM time slot.

In TMZ's defense, something has got to give. Jay's show is tanking, Conan's show is tanking. And while Conan is not exactly a great fit for the sleepy-time demographic of the Tonight Show, I would rather receive a screwdriver in the anus than to ever see Jay's face again.
Soooo... if you were a big shot network executive, what would YOU do?

The real problem is and always has been: Jay Leno just isn't funny.

Conan is great when sufficiently unleashed. Jay Leno is for old, unfunny people.

Oh gawd. Coco should've stuck with his show but obvs he'd be a fool to have turned down the Tonight Show. Leno should HANG IT UP and move on.

I like Conan but The Tonight Show has become really, really corny and stupid. It just isn't funny at all. I don't catch Leno due to his time slot but I sure do miss him doing The Tonight Show. I'd like to see him come back!
