If there is any remaining doubt in my mind over whether Project Runway in the hands of Bravo is any different that in the hands of Lifetime, it is gone. Bravo was much looser about having its episodes accessible online. Lifetime? Not so much. (If anyone can tell me where I can watch episodes the day after without having to cough up my cell phone number or credit card information please email me immediately because I have already wasted far too much of my day looking. God those ASSHOLES.)
Anyway. Last night I headed out to the 'Couv to meet Seth Aaron Henderson, our competitor to the north, at his viewing party at a strip-mall pizza bar thing-y (and I only got lost twice!). He's very nice and seems quite genuine, but his fans wouldn't stop whooping and whelping every time he came on screen, so that I caught approximately 15% of the show's dialogue. He was one of the contestants singled out for praise by the illustrious judges for his design in a challenge that vaguely tasked the designers to "represent themselves." Janeane Marie Ceccanti, our Portland girl (Sorry Seth, I'm not going back up there. I'm lucky to be alive after a 4x4 Ford Tundra almost crushed my VW getting back on the 5.), had to scramble after getting too ambitious with some "unforgiving" material, but made the cut without being singled out by the judges in a good, or bad, way. It wasn't her best work, and the end result was kind of drab, but it was a start. If she can hang in there she'll have plenty of time to shine. Here's here video blog on the episode, in which she takes a couple swipes at other contestants, including Seth Aaron!
Hit the jump for Tim Gunn's critique of Janeane's first look-in-progress, and the finished runway look—and stay tuned for next week's episode and wrap-up!
