"I have 1016 in my hand, and at least another hundred floating, still, so yes, I expect to turn in no less than 1150 signatures tomorrow," says Cornett—who is running against City Commissioner Dan Saltzman. Cornett was leading in the race for signatures, earlier this week.
CANDIDATE OLYMPIAD: TONIGHT! SERIOUSLY!!! TONIGHT!!!!!!

"It's a tremendous feeling knowing that so many people are not only willing to make a contribution, but willing to reach out to their friends and families too. I've got a ways to go to make sure we have enough of a cushion, of course, but we'll be there by the deadline," he continues.

Has he heard from any of his fellow would-be publicly-financed candidates?

"I saw Jason last night, and he was still gathering signatures," says Cornett.

Mary Volm, Spencer Burton and Ed Garren have all dropped out of seeking public campaign financing. That just leaves Rudy Soto and Jason Renaud. All will be at our Candidate Olympiad tonight. But I already mentioned this a few times, right?
