KoiFusion, Portland’s beloved Korean taco truck(s), are going (kinda) brick and mortar. The KoiFusion @1 concept, sees owner Bo Kwon and Chef Joe Anderson taking over the kitchen and lounge space of SOLO [1300 NW Lovejoy] without actually taking ownership of the space. Meanwhile, the bar will be called Studio 1 and will be headed by Joshua Palmer.

Bizarre business model? Yes. The upshot is you’ll soon be able to get out of the weather to enjoy Koi favorites (Bulgogi tacos = yum) while sipping cocktails meant to compliment the food. Also, look for the much raved about Korean Fried Chicken to be a prominent feature. The grand opening is next week.

Bakery Bar has closed their SE Water location, but has added cocktails to their menu at the Northeast shop [2935 NE Glisan]. Unfortunately, they aren’t staying open any later for afternoon imbibers—they close daily at 3pm. On the bright side, you’ve never had a better reason to drink before 5 pm.

While we’re in the neighborhood, Migration Brewing is open at 2828 NE Glisan. Their first beer, Migration Pale, hit the taps yesterday. They open daily at 3pm, which is great because you can just walk over after drinking at Bakery Bar to continue your revelry… Liquor before beer, have no fear.

The Montavilla neighborhood gets their own savory pie shop with the opening of Immortal Pie and Larder [8029 SE Stark] this Sunday at 4 pm. Pie, beer, and wine. That’s one stop shopping.

UPDATE: More cart news!

Those working within ambling distance of the Hawthorne Cart Pod [SE 12th and Hawthorne] will be pleased to know that both Whiffies and Potato Champion are now open during lunch hours. The change comes after the two carts teamed up to share a kitchen, which allows them to prep outside their respective carts during the day. I just had a Whiffies pot roast pie... In the daytime... Sober!
