For some reason, last year's Wes Anderson vehicle Fantastic Mr. Fox wasn't a runaway success. Like Erik said in his review, I chalk the film's so-so box office up to general Wes Anderson malaise rather than any reflection on the film, which I thought was fucking delightful.
Oliver became slightly infamous last fall when he dissed Fox director Wes Anderson in an LA Times interview, calling him "a little sociopathic" and revealing that Anderson directed much of the film in absentia, via e-mail. (Anderson explained later that he imagined that he'd be able to work with Oliver again.) Curious fellow indeed to be out there beating the drum.If you're as curious about why this is happening as I am, this could be worth checking out. I can almost guarantee it will be more interesting than Alice in Wonderland.
