THE CATERPILLAR COMMANDS YOU TO TAKE DRUGS BEFORE GOING TO THE MULTIPLEX
  • THE CATERPILLAR COMMANDS YOU TO TAKE DRUGS BEFORE GOING TO THE MULTIPLEX

Marjorie reviews Steven Spielberg's Hook Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, in which a grown-up Peter Pan Alice, who has forgotten all about Neverland Wonderland, returns to rediscover magic and fight Captain Hook Helena Bonham Carter. Pictured above is my favorite character from the film, a pissy caterpillar who has Alan Rickman's voice. Magical.

Zac goes after Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer and Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank. (My favorite phrase in the Film section this week comes from the Ghost Writer review: "Fuck the Polanski apologists—if some time behind bars will prevent this man from making any more movies like The Ghost Writer, it's a win-win for everyone." You can put that on the cover of the DVD if you want, Summit Entertainment!)

I ramble on about the Oscars. (Also: Don't forget to enter the First Annual Blogtown Oscars Contest!)

More, as ever, in our Film Shorts and Movie Times.
