Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron's Finest Hour

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Mon, Mar 8, 2010 at 10:51 AM

... was not last night at the 82nd annual Academy Awards, but rather in 1988, when Cameron directed a music video for his buddy Bill Paxton's terrible, terrible band, Martini Ranch.

Director James Cameron created the cowboy-themed video for "Reach." The production includes cameos from his soon-to-be-wife, fellow director Kathryn Bigelow, as well as Aliens and Terminator alumni Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser and Jenette Goldstein, Judge Reinhold, Brian Thompson, and Adrian Pasdar who had appeared in Bigelow's Near Dark with Paxton, Goldstein and Henriksen. (Via.)

I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched the films of both Cameron and Bigelow, but I can safely say that I will never, ever get tired of this video.

"REACH! HA-HA." Also Kathryn Bigelow I love you.

So this is what launched music legend Bill Paxton's wildly successful rock and roll career.
Let's list favorite parts! Mine is when the guy solos in mid-execution.

Kathryn Bigelow's finest hour was obviously when she directed Point Break.

I'd say her finest hour was directing Strange Days.
