Monster Lit! Bookslut has an insightful and thorough critique of the burgeoning trend of adapting classic novels into monster stories. Jane Austen is the popular target, but the sub-genre is casting a wider and wider net, eviscerating such classics as The Wizard of Oz and A Christmas Carol to include scenes of violence and horror. If you have a mind for puns, don't forget to enter our contest to win a complimentary copy of the new Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter!

Tonight! Local literary magazines The Portland Review, Poor Claudia, and Pathos have joined forces and organized a reading tonight at The Press Club on SE Clinton and 26th. Readers include Donald Dunbar, Alison Apotheker, Alisha Bruton, Rodney Koeneke, Caitlin Dwyer and a collaboration with Stacey Tran and Matthew Haussler. It begins at 7 o'clock and it's FREE.
