Filing Day Political Races Battle Royale!

Posted by Sarah Mirk on Tue, Mar 9, 2010 at 2:59 PM

The internets are on fire today with discussion about the absolute avalanche of candidates who have suddenly filed for the state treasurer, county commissioner and county chair seats, which opened up like dominoes after State Treasurer Ben Westlund died on Sunday. Hat tips to BlueOregon, WW and the Oregonian, who have been breaking the news of candidates all day.

The count has been changing by the minute but as of 2:31 pm eleven candidates have declared for these three seats. Wait, Steve Novick just dropped out as I am writing this. Ten candidates. Three seats. Some of them are well-known and experienced politicians, one of them is the city noise control officer.

So in a 100% scientific, heat-of-the-filing-day poll... who would you vote for? And more importantly, if all of the candidates were placed into a grisly battle royale with the Oregon Zoo's Pale Faced Saki Monkey (which "sleeps in trees coiled like a cat" and can "emit loud and penetrating call in the wild") WHO WOULD SURVIVE?

Top row, from left: Jim Hill, Ted Wheeler, Rick Metsger, Chris Telfer, Margaret Carter (bottom row): Jeff Cogen, Karol Collymore, Chuck Currie, Gary Hansen, Paul van Orden

Who would you vote for for State Treasurer?

Take the rest of the polls below the cut!

Who would you vote for for County Chair?

Who would you vote for for County Commissioner Seat 2?

If all of these candidates were thrown into a battle royale with the pale faced saki monkey WHO WOULD SURVIVE??
