She & Him Get Their High School Musical On

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Tue, Mar 9, 2010 at 7:27 AM

Sorta local (but not really) duo She & Him are riding high on the promotional campaign for their upcoming She & Him's Volume 2 recording, due out March 23rd courtesy of Merge. In this video for "In the Sun" M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel perk up a high school. Well, at least she does. M. Ward just stands around looking cool while Deschanel prances about the halls like Zac Efron (but with superior indie cred). If the idea of Deschanel hamming it up for the camera isn't appealing (You monster!), then you will absolutely hate this. Also, the video sort of looks like a viral ad for the Gap.

Wait, maybe it is?

Why is this Zooey chick so popular with all the guys? What's she done? I'm confused.

@Graham

She is super adorable in Elf and lovely in 500 Days of Summer. Then that soulless bitch wed Ben Gibbard in real life and ruined music. I can't deal with Ben Gibbard writing happy songs.

@BlackedOut: So she was in two movies I haven't seen, then married a guy in a band I don't care about? God, I'm such an elitist hipster.

I'll just be over here wearing my kafeyah and shutter shades.

She was also in the recent Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Also, Graham, I think it's more likely that you're NOT hip for not knowing who she is. And for not being in love with her.

Also! I saw a dude wearing a Yasir Arafat scarf on campus yesterday, and he was handing out flyers of some sort near a booth, and I was like, "Man, I didn't think people wore those in public anymore. Isn't wearing one at this point a sure sign that you're not at all hip? Wait, he must be a Christian trying to blend in with the kids." Lo, he was!

@ROM: My understanding was that all the hip kids are falling in love wth Bianca Freire this season. I know that I did at least. And whence I lead, all shall follow.

Oops, I forgot to finish my story. And the guy with the flyer's name was Graham2. He was your clone. And he was pulling ahead of you in life; he had a girlfriend and a killer hi-fi system.

@ROM: I could have a girlfriend if I wanted one. My mom says I'm handsome. But I do have a good A/V system; Blu-ray and all that stuff.

But really, Biana Freire. She's gonna be the next hot thing.

She has no discernable talent as an actress or a singer (or, as this video proves, a dancer), but cute trumps everything else.

It's those blue eyes that do it. They have a I-could-totally-go-off-and-get-crazy-and-stab-your-cat look that little boyz fnd sooooooo attractive.She was also terrible in "Hitchhikers Guide".

Completely off topic, but it would be fun to know who won those tickets from last Tuesday's contest.
