As fat, lazy, ignorant Americans with no style or taste whatsoever, we are taught to regard the French as the epitome of cultured refinement. They know to value quality over quantity, to only buy the very best one can afford, to practice discretion, and... to act like a bunch of shrieking savages the minute the Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection drops in newly opened stores. Discriminating taste in action (oh, and you might want to turn down the volume on your machine just a touch):
