Thanks to Blogtown tipper Katherine for alerting us to this bit of ridiculous culinary legislation from the New York state assembly aimed at banning the use of salt in that state's restaurants (from reason.com):

The penalty for the dastardly use of salt in your cuisine? $1,000 per violation. Holy shit! I doubt the legislation will pass, and I doubt that if it did it would be repeated in Oregon. If I were in New York right now, I'd be going all Morton Salt Girl on the assembly steps.
