This Week's Mercury Music Section

Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you prepare to try out for the Wu Tang Clan. Since when did the Wu Tang become Menudo?

Wait, you mean to tell me that African music wasn't invented by Vampire Weekend inside a Willamsburg American Apparel? You sure about that? Okay, well then I guess I can break the news to Malian griot Bassekou Kouyate.
LISTEN:

Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba - "I Speak Fula"

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Scrabble kills. A board game gone wrong led to Peter Broderick hurting his knee, and hence bowing out of Efterklang. If he was playing Hungry Hungry Hippos this would never happen. Unless he slipped on a marble.
LISTEN:

Efterklang - "Modern Drift"

You know how you couldn't go to a house party last Summer and not hear "Stillness is the Move," Dirty Projectors faux-R&B jam of the year? Well, imagine if there was an entire record of songs equally as appealing. There is. White Hinterland's Kairos is a work of beauty, a vast change in direction for Casey Dienel, and the sort of recording we'll still be playing far into the future.
LISTEN:

White Hinterland - "Cataract"

End Hits: Menudo + Wu Tang = MenWUdo. I think we're on to something here.
