Prank Renames Interstate to "Tonya Harding Ave"

Posted by Sarah Mirk on Thu, Apr 1, 2010 at 3:07 PM

In my experience, April Fools jokes are usually flops. Dumb flops, hokey flops, jokes about the Metro agenda that make only wonks snicker.

But Cornelius Swart at the Portland Sentinel spotted this legitimately hilarious April Fools prank up in North Portland:

The jokesters slapped up fake signs on a couple other Portland roads, christening "Rowdy Piper Ave" and "Jamie Escalante Ave" (pictures below the cut). What's the pattern here, people?!

There SHOULD be a Rowdy Piper Ave.

Why can't that guy move back and make an ill-advised run for mayor? Worked for Jesse Ventura.

For all you Blogtown Piper fans, here he is on the Adam Carolla podcast a couple of months ago. Good trip down memory lane as he tells about his early years (and YES...a bit on They Live).

-Roddy Piper, "They Live"
