VERHOEVEN'S JESUS—This you did not know: Director Paul Verhoeven (Showgirls, RoboCop) is also a biblical scholar who separates fact from fiction in the gospels. Tonight he reads from his new biography of Christianity's favorite son, Jesus of Nazareth, which paints the "son of God" as a child born from rape, a practicing exorcist, and revolutionary. Yipes. Unfortunately courage in the government is rare enough to warrant a documentary on one of the exceptions to the rule. MS
