Blogtown: Cwazy Maria Bamford

Maria Bamford is crazy. Maybe literally. She has a knack for being possessed by her characters, like Linda Blair demonic-voice possessed. Her set killed last night at the Mt. Tabor, with a lot of material from her home-made Christmas special. Good stuff. Even from the very back of the room, her expressions were hysterical—she twists her face and voice into a litany of comic weirdness. You can catch her tonight at the Bagdad. Before her was Brent Weinbach, who had the best use of a smooth jazz sound effect I've ever heard. Randy Mendez was also great at the weird little stage at the Bar of the Gods. I'd never seen the Eugene comic before, but he's infinitely charming and comfortable on stage.

Tonight is action packed. I can't wait to check out Morgan Murphy at the Mt. Tabor. Schedule here.
