Here Come the Attacks on Obama's New Justice!

Posted by Sarah Mirk on Mon, May 10, 2010 at 1:23 PM

Man, the virulent right is fast. I got my first anti-Justice Kagan press release at 11:37 this morning. And it's a good one.

"President nominates pro-homosexual, anti-military lawyer to Supreme Court," screeches the American Family Council (whose website I would link to but it covered my browser with pop-up ads for Bibles... no way I'm inflicting that on you).

What makes her an army-loving friend of the gays? She fought to ban military recruiters from Harvard's campus when she was dean of the law school.

"Marriage between a man and a woman is the cornerstone of any healthy society. To put someone with such hostility to natural marriage and duly enacted law on the Supreme Court is an unacceptable threat to this profoundly important institution," reads the American Family release. Yes. Because promoting tolerance and making sure there are no unwanted patriots means Kagan is gunning to destroy your families! She's coming for your marriage!

Why do you hate America, Smirk?

Funny how these arguments against her are actually, for me, somewhat compelling reasons to like this woman.
