Magic Hours: Essays on Creators and Creation Is a Book of Essays About Things!
Ah, Rex Burkholder... dude's trailing Tom Hughes and Bob Stacey, but he's throwing a hell of a party. Dozens of young, hip, bicycle-friendly people (and a whole bunch of finely-dressed older folks as well) turned out to what might be one of the most hopping, if not victorious, parties in town.

While Rex was trailing the two other candidates, I asked him how he was feeling. "My friends and family are here," he said, "so I'm happy." He didn't seem too confident that he'd win, though. Then he took his leave: "I'm going to go get more pizza so I don't get drunk." Aw. Now I kind of want him to win. Runoff, maybe?

Update 8:52 pm: In his closing speech—with results still uncertain—Rex sounds optimistic. "Whether I win or not, I'm still going back to work tomorrow," he says. "The results don't look great, but it's been a great ride," he says. "Ride," he repeats, and people get the pun. "And now we're going to eat cake." Let them, Rex!
