Mortal Kombat Week Rolls On ...

Posted by Earnest "Nex" Cavalli on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 9:42 AM

Because one unexpected trailer for a franchise most people forgot about sometime during the previous century is just never enough, Warner Bros. Interactive has released the first trailer for Mortal Kombat.

Yeah, just "Mortal Kombat."

No numerics or foreboding subtitle or anything. The developers apparently want to go for a retro style with this one, blending the latest in 3-D graphics with the gory 2-D gameplay that made the series successful in the first place.

I'd point out how that design choice makes it seem like Midway is lifting ideas from from Capcom's latest Street Fighter games, but every time I get that far, the restless spirits of all those games journalists killed during the 16-bit wars come shrieking from beneath this stack of Diehard GameFan Magazines next to my desk.

Best to leave that one alone.
