Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you watch Michael Jackson and Bubbles: The Untold Story on Animal Planet. Poor Bubbles. Not sure what is worse, living with MJ at Neverland Ranch or having La Toya make a documentary about you.
I tried to figure out the conundrum (popular + terribly = terribly popular?) that is local hard rock act Floater. But, hey, at least we didn't put them on our cover.
Floater - "Broken Toy"
Sally Seltmann (you might remember her as New Buffalo) goes for the pop music jugular with Heart That's Pounding. She also namedrops Loudon Wainwright III in this song. Sold!
Sally Seltmann - "Heart That's Pounding"
Oh CocoRosie, why do we hate thee? Let me count the ways... okay, all done counting. We found a half dozen reasons why one could possibly dislike the Casady sisters. Sadly, press photos with fake mustaches did not make the list.
CocoRosie - "Smokey Taboo"
Doom goes the dynamite! Legendary doom icons Saint Vitus have returned and we chat with Wino all about it.
Saint Vitus - "Burial At Sea"
Solvent ditches the "super happy robot music" and gets sad. But don't worry, that's a good thing.
Solvent - "Loss for Words"
End Hits: Admit it, you were surprised to find out that Bubbles was still alive.
