CONDEMN OR ALLOW: The Trailer for Let Me In!

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Thu, Jul 1, 2010 at 11:43 AM

Via the Onion's A.V. Club—and just in time to counteract this goddamn Twilight: Eclipse business—comes the international trailer for Let Me In, the American remake of the phenomenal 2008 Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In.

This remake probably doesn't need to exist—the only reason it does, I'm about 99.9999 percent sure, is 'cause American studios think most Americans are either illiterate or too lazy to read subtitles. That said, this film had a super-secret test screening here in Portland a month or two back, complete with the studio bigwigs and the director in attendance. While there was no way they'd let anyone even slightly resembling a member of the press within 100 yards, a friend of mine managed to sneak in and was pretty impressed—he noted that while this remake kept a lot of the good things about the original, director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) did a solid job of making it stand on its own, too.

But hey, what does my friend know? He was probably drunk. Here's the trailer!

I like this early glimpse of it—while it does seem louder than the original (which was so affecting, in large part, because of its quietness), I dig the look of it, and I'm excited to see Chloe Moretz (AKA Kick-Ass' Hit-Girl) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (AKA that lovable scamp from The Road) in these roles. But blah blah blah—it's time to do what the internet does best and let anonymous people be judgmental! LET US JUDGE!
