The Oregon secretary of state's office announced today that two of the six petitions submitted earlier this month have enough valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot. They're still counting the other petitions, for parks funding, a casino, and legislative redistricting.

The two that passed:

Initiative Petition 13
Ballot Title Caption: Imposes mandatory minimum sentences for certain major felony sex crimes and driving under the influence convictions.
Status: Of the 136,674 signatures accepted for verification, 68.21 percent, or 93,223 were determined to be valid.

Initiative Petition 28
Ballot Title Caption: Establishes medical marijuana supply system and assistance and research programs; allows limited selling of marijuana.
Status: Of the 130,702 signatures accepted for verification, 65.68 percent, or 85,848, were determined to
be valid.

The petitions that qualify will become measures, numbered in the order in which they were submitted, starting with Measure 73. Verification results will be official on August 1.
