News of prostitution problems in Portland is not new. Sadly, not even teen prostitution. Portland is one of the top cities in the country for under-age prostitution, many say because of its location on the I-5, a route often used for human trafficking.

For more background on this, read the Mercury’s article, Confessions of a Teenage Prostitute.

To help think about how you can be more involved in stopping these terrible crimes, Arts for Justice is putting on an educational event at the South Park Blocks on Sunday afternoon.

A survivor of prostitution, gangs and drugs, Jeri Williams will be speaking about her experiences, as well as conducting other public presentations about spreading non-violence, stopping human trafficking, and what we can do to help.

July 25th, 2010, 3:00-7:00pm,
South Park Blocks on the campus of Portland State University,
between SW Harrison & Montgomery.
Admission is free.
