Win Tickets to Wipeout.

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 3:55 PM

The Grindhouse Film Fest's '70s Italian Crime Series kicks off this weekend, and I've got a pair of tickets to the first screening, Wipeout (AKA The Boss), which goes down Saturday at 7:30 at the Hollywood.

Here's what Ned had to say about it in our Film Shorts section:

Wanna go? Of course you do. To enter to win the tickets, email me by 5 pm PST today (Thursday, July 29), and make sure "Nick Lanzetta" is your subject line. I'll check my email around 5, pick a winner at random, and let them know how to pick up their tickets. Go!

I won't be able to attend the screening, but I have to say kudos to Halstead for branching out from the regular "horror" and "kung-fu" films, and finally tackling the other genres, of which, the Italian Crime Film is one of the more underrated in America.

Recommended film. Not as good as the two preceding films of di Leo's "trilogy" ("Milano Calibro 9" and "La Mala Ordina"), but the opening is amazing, and this is the sort of "grindhouse film" that has more than its share of "serious film" gravitas.

Now, after the recent success of "Hausu", if only he could branch out into the pop-art-meets-exploitation world of Japanese 70s cinema.
