R. Crumb's Oregon Influences

Posted by Alison Hallett on Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 11:47 AM

In this video from Oregon Movies, A to Z, Patrick Rosenkranz (author of Rebel Visions: The Underground Comix Revolution, 1963 — 1975) and Countermedia owner Charles Boucher discuss the influence of Oregon cartoonists Basil Wolverton and Carl Barks on the work of Robert Crumb (according to Oregon Movies, Crumb "continually cites" the two artists as "crucial early formative influences"). You've got just over a month to check out the Crumb exhibit at the Portland art museum—read our review of the exhibit here.
