A crappy bootleg made its way out of Comic-Con a little while back, but here's a decent-quality version of the solid (if waaaaay too long) trailer for AMC's zombie-tastic The Walking Dead, which is overseen by Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) and based on the comic written by Robert Kirkman, with art by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore. I used to be a big fan of the comic, but I grew less and less interested in it as it started to meander; I've heard it's improved since then, though, so maybe I should delve back into it.

Kirkman's concept—of a zombie movie that'd never end, of a post-apocalyptic story that actually examines the long-term effects of surviving an apocalypse—is a great one, and it's perfectly suited to serialized mediums like comics and episodic TV. So far, AMC seems to be giving a lot more money and time to this TV series than genre projects usually garner, which can only be a good sign—between this and HBO's upcoming A Game of Thrones series, things are looking promising for television nerdery.

(Post-script, from the Mercury's music editor/resident zombieologist Ezra Ace Caraeff: "If you want music nerd points," he iChatted me, "you can mention the song: The Walker Brothers' 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore.'" Done and done. MUSIC NERD POINTS GAINED.)
