THE SOCIAL NETWORK There are only three movies I've flat-out loved this year: Winter's Bone, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and The Social Network. While critics are currently competing to see who can shoot the biggest load over the film—seriously, look at this, it's kind of embarrassing—one element of The Social Network that hasn't been getting nearly enough attention is Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' beautiful, unsettling score. You really should check it out in the context of the film, since David Fincher uses it perfectly, but here's a taste:

LET ME IN The Americanized remake of the Swedish cult emo vampire flick Let the Right One In finally hits screens. Ezra Ace Caraeff leads the charge of complaining about how it isn't as good as the original (but okay, FINE, it's still worth seeing).

THE PORTLAND LESBIAN & GAY FILM FESTIVAL The big movie at PLGFF this year is Howl, AKA "that movie where James Franco plays Allen Ginsberg"—but there's plenty of other stuff to check out, too.

Also! THE LOST BOYS is tonight at the Bagdad, the THE H.P. LOVECRAFT FILM FESTIVAL is this weekend at the Hollywood, while out at the Highway 99 Drive-In, there's a double feature of MACHETE and a movie near and dear to my heart, THE WARRIORS.

More, as ever, in our Film Shorts and Movie Times.
