Its Celebration Time, Boyz!

A lot has happened in Portland comedy over the last year aside from the opening of a new club. Lots of local, independent, semi-regular shows have been popping up outside of the traditional open mic's. One of the most well received, Comedy Is OK, helped kick off the trend, in essence kicking Portland comics in the ass—saying, "hey! comedy is great, let's see if we can get something organized." For more on the show's history, check my original feature.

Tonight, in order to celebrate their first anniversary, hosts Mikey Kampann and (former Mercury intern) Andrew Michaan return to where it all began: The Clinton St. Theater. They've got cheap drink specials, "a potential special guest headliner," video shorts, and "a lot of fun surprises." All this for $1. One buck for one year. It also marks the changing of the guard, as it will be Michaan's last hosting duty before splitting town for New York in hopes of become the next Jim Belushi.
