The Back to the Future trilogy—featuring one perfect movie, one great movie, and one boring-ass movie about two elderly nerds falling in love in the Wild West—is coming to Blu-ray later this month. We'll have a review of the Blu-rays when they come out, but in the meantime, check out this glimpse from the set's special features... where Robert "I Used to Make Good Movies!" Zemeckis talks about the filmmakers' disastrous first decision to cast Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly. Thankfully—after five weeks(!) of shooting—Zemeckis, et al., decided it wasn't working out and brought on Michael J. Fox.

The fact Stoltz got handed his walking papers after shooting a significant amount of footage has been known ever since... well, the film was made. But this, if I'm not mistaken, is the first footage that's ever been released of Stoltz' attempt at McFly. Here's hoping there's some audio of Stoltz' performance in the rest of the Blu-ray features; if his morose glaring here is any indication, I really want to hear his mopey delivery of "Wait a minute, Doc—are you trying to tell me that my mother has got the hots for me?"
