This Week's Mercury Music Section

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Thu, Oct 28, 2010 at 7:48 AM

Another week, another Mercury music section to read while picking out your music nerd Halloween costume. Damn, they stole my idea to dress as the entire genre of chillwave. Guess I'll just dress as a sexy nurse. Again.

Compiled of members from some of Portland's finest bands, Tu Fawning craft a lovely full-length of spooky parlor songs.
LISTEN:

Tu Fawning - "The Felt Sense"

Despite a name that sounds like a catcall from a chimbley sweep, London's Allo Darlin' takes the prize as the cutest band on earth.
LISTEN:

Allo Darlin' - "Kiss Your Lips"

Frontman Luke Temple discusses the accidental formation of Here We Go Magic. Plus, like any band with "magic" in their title, they have been pre-endorsed by the Magicians' Alliance. I'll be honest. I'm just more comfortable with an Alliance-approved magician.
LISTEN:

Here We Go Magic - "Casual"

With Equilibrio!, local trio Wow & Flutter make the best recording in their 14 year run. Also, judging by these photos, the band is now finally comfortable to come out as Furries. We're proud of you guys. Remember, it gets better.
LISTEN:

Wow & Flutter - "Union Pacific"

Satyricon is closing up shop and joining CBGBs in punk rock venue heaven (or hell). A fixture at the club back in its heyday—urinal trough, fights, good music—Chris Newman drew this little comic about some of Satyricon's more famous incidents.

End Hits: I miss Fellini's.
