Your Daily Blazer: R.I.P. City for Maurice Lucas

Yesterday, after a long battle with bladder cancer, Maurice Lucas passed away at the age of 58. The Blazers legend—whose number 20 jersey proudly swings in the rafters of the Rose Garden—stepped down from coaching following the cancer diagnosis and surgery in 2008-09. He returned early last season, but health reasons forced him off the coaching bench for good. "The Enforcer" was a key member of the 1977 NBA championship team, plus a longtime fan favorite. He will be missed dearly.

But the show must go on. After a week where they played spoilers to a pair of home openers, the Blazers kickoff a week with five games—including a pair of back-to-backs—in Chicago tonight at 5pm (PST). Portland is one of four undefeated teams in the league. So much for that slow start.
