Two Hundred Game Characters With Classic Mega Man Aesthetics

Posted by Earnest "Nex" Cavalli on Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 12:01 AM

Ever wondered what the star of your favorite game would look like if he or she was transformed into a robot from an 8-bit Mega Man game?

No? Shut up! You're ruining my intro!

While you learn to stop screwing up people's blog posts with your bullshit honesty, here's a massively shrunken version of a gigantic image (courtesy this guy and the news spreading powers of Capcom's Unity blog) portraying 200 game characters in an aesthetic style reminiscent of the world's most beloved Astro Boy rip-off.

Anyone wanna take a stab at naming all of em? I got 178.

The technological limitations of Blogtown have forced me to shrink this thing so our servers don't choke on it, but we highly recommend rebiggening the picture with a left click. Alternately, if you want to have a look at the image in all its original 6.7 megabyte, 6,948 by 4,032 pixel resolution, dot-P-N-G format glory, right click this blue text and open the link in a new tab or window.

Post Script: If you dig this, you might also appreciate the artist's prior work (which can be found here). It's another cluster of famous game characters with a makeover courtesy Albert W. Wily, but it doesn't quite live up to the standard set by its younger brother's immense cast.

Still, quality stuff.
