Neighborhood newspaper the NW Examiner did a cool survey of commercial parking lots around NW 21st and 23rd and found—surprise surprise—that despite all the griping about lack of parking in the area, the lots are never full. Check it out:
The paper even offered a free steak dinner to anyone who could photograph a full commercial parking lot in the neighborhood—no takers (maybe they should have offered a free organic tempeh dinner). The empty lots are important because the neighborhood plan setting standards for development in NW includes the assumption that the area doesn't have enough parking
. But it looks like there's plenty of half-empty pay-for-parking lots that people aren't using.
