SNOWPOCALYPSE IS COMING!!

Posted by Sarah Mirk on Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 3:43 PM

Today may be all warm and in the 40s, but tomorrow.... tomorrow meteorologists are already describing as a frighteningly vague "major event."

Snow! beginning in the afternoon.
Freezing Rain! continuing until midnight.
"Significant amounts of snow, freezing rain, ice, or slush!" destroying your commute.

If you have to drive up hills, use chains. If you can, take transit and pray to the Gods of TriMet that your bus doesn't get stuck.

Best case scenario: Stay home and film people out your window.

I want the snowlocaust to last longer than 24 hours. How can I make this happen?

We're calling it SNO-MG 2011 this year. Snowpocalypse was retired last year.

They're backing off quite a bit on the forecast. May just be Snorepocalypse.

I vote for Sno-MG!

That video is the best 2:19 I will waste all day. Proof again that Seattle is WAY more chaos than Portland. :)

SMIRK, you've done it again!

@The Showstopper That video is from January 2007.

@MKUltraPDX That video was shot on SW 20th & Salmon, in Portland.

This video is a now infamous example of what happens in Portland when it snows, but few apparently realize why it's happening. That area is a steep road leading up to the West Hills. Also, that snow has frozen over, and is now a slick layer of ice. No amount of knowledge of equipment is going to get you through those conditions.
