Here's your new William Adama, kids—Luke Pasqualino! EW has the scoop on some casting for the new Battlestar spinoff, Blood & Chrome:

Pasqualino will star as the young, talented fighter pilot William Adama, a recent Academy graduate who finds himself assigned to the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 45 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

It's a little too easy to be cynical about Blood & Chrome at this point, considering how (A) a good number of BSG fans viciously turned on that show during its final season (just for the record, hey, I liked the finale), and (B) BSG's first prequel series, Caprica, never had any fans to begin with. So while my first instinct is to make fun of Jake Lloyd or whoever it is up there, hell, who knows, maybe he'll be really good. He hasn't been in much other than the UK series Skins, so I guess we'll just wait and see.

That said, man, I knew they were going the Battlestar 90210 route, but I didn't expect they'd be going this young. I was thinking Blood & Chrome would be, like, Razor-era Adama, but this looks like just-got-his-Raptor-learner's-permit Adama. Which again, hey, open mind and all that. But man, I'm going to be disappointed if the pilot doesn't contain at least one shouting of the phrase, "You're not the boss of me! I don't have to follow your frakking curfew at all if I don't want to! So there!" Preferably, this would be followed by the slamming of a space-door.
