Santorum Goes International

Posted by Dan Savage on Tue, Feb 22, 2011 at 9:44 AM

I'm on vacation—had to lock myself in the bathroom to post this (if the husband-in-Canada/boyfriend-in-America sees me, he'll toss my laptop out the window)—but I had to toss this up.

De winnaar ('The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex') is acht jaar later nog steeds een hit op Google.

Not sure what any of that means—care to translate, anybody?—but it can't be good for Rick. Also, I hear that Colbert covered the spreading Santorum controversy last night. Anyone catch that?

It says the same thing as that other article, except in a different language.

ROM is right. Also Colbert said the same stuff, except also exhorted us to google Santorum and click every link we find over and over.

The (openly gay) sexcolumnist and journalist Dan Savage began [bullying/pestering/harassing] after Santorum, then Pennsylvania senator, had warned in 2003 that homosexuality is undermining American society. Santorum compared gay relationships to include man/boy and man/dog relationships.

Savage's method was deadly effective: on the website, SpreadSantorum.com, anyone could submit definitions of the word "Santorum." The winner ("The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter Sometimes That is the by-product of anal sex") is eight years later still the number one hit on Google.

If Santorum wants a serious chance to be the Republican presidential candidate, he should [?] on this issue. For now, he blamed that vulgar Internet. Comedian Stephen Colbert attempts to help the embattled candidate, comparing Santorum's troubles with those of the Amish and the term "Dutch oven."

Defining Dansavage
Dan Savage allegedly was responsible for engineering a definition using the name of former US Senator Rick Santorum's name to mean something almost unspeakably disgusting and allegedly conspired with his readers to manipulate Santorum's name in such a way that it would become closely associated with this definition in google saerches. In doing so, Savage showed a complete disregard for Santorum as well as for his wife and children.

Dan Savage needs a little of his own medicine. It is proposed, therefore, to define dansavage as follows:

dansavage:

Someone who projects his or her self-loathing onto another person be means of vulgarity and/or inappropriate behavior and who has little regard for the dignity of other people in doing so; an individual of low moral character who engages in ad hominem attacks on another person without regard for social decorum and whose vitriolic response to a perceived injury or insult is considered by objective observers to be a reflection of self-loathing; a morally corrupt person.

“His response to those he disagreed with was so reprehensible and inappropriate that he was henceforth considered a dansavage.”

If this were posted widely, Dan Savage might get a taste of his own bile.
