Today in Bad Ideas: Driving on the MAX Tracks

Posted by Sarah Mirk on Fri, Mar 11, 2011 at 10:14 AM

Man, it's been a rough couple weeks for TriMet.

First there was the Feces Smearer, then some guy sadistically stuffing cigarettes into ticket machines, then the news comes out that there's only seven full-time fare inspectors for the entire TriMet system.

And now some drunk guy drives along the MAX tracks until he crashes into a building. From the police:

At approximately 6:30 p.m. tonight March 10, 2011, 51-year old Donald Vakulich was driving westbound on Southwest Jefferson Street in the Goose Hallow area when he drove his 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup off the roadway and onto the Max tracks. His vehicle continued traveling westbound on the tracks until he crashed into an outbuilding... Officers determined that alcohol was a factor in this crash.
