Hi there, roller derby fans. I see a passel of wheels, short shorts, and hip checks in your near future, 'cause it's derby weekend with the
Rose City Rollers. Three nights of fast-flying roller skating kick off tonight with a scrimmage between the
Break Neck Betties and Tacoma's
Femme Fianna from the Dockyard Derby Dames league. Goes down tonight at the Hangar at Oaks Park (8 pm, $7
donation).
Saturday sees the Rose City Rollers' big game #3 with the gambling lassies of the
High Rollers vs. the scrappy butt-rockers in
Guns N Rollers (6 pm). And I'm thinking GNR has something to prove this time out, after a brutal loss in January to the Betties. In fact Saturday's game is such a big bout, it's already sold out. But they'll be broadcasting it somewhere—check
here for the as-yet-announced info. Frowny face upsidedown turner: Get your tickets
NOW for the April 2 bout at the Hangar with the
Heartless Heathers vs. Break Neck Betties—it's bound to sell out too.
Finally, Sunday wraps with the darling (but dastardly) li'l dolls of the
Rose City Rosebuds who'll be fighting it out in the two home-team games of their season opener (3 pm, $5
donation). Aww, their
poster is freakin' adorable—look at mean Princess Leia! See ya there.
