This morning, the Christian Science Monitor ran a very good overview by Linda Feldmann of the Republican presidential primary as it stands right now. Feldmann determines that the race could boil down to a bloody fight between three men:

When all is said and done, the race for the 2012 GOP nomination may boil down to just three serious contenders: former Governor Romney of Massachusetts, former Governor Pawlenty of Minnesota, and Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi. Pawlenty announced his exploratory committee on March 20; Romney and Governor Barbour are expected to do so within the next several weeks.

There are a few wild cards—Huckabee is looking strong right now, but nobody is sure if he's actually running or not, and I'm not sure how he would hold up under serious attacks from other candidates—but Feldmann has a good, no-bullshit grasp of the candidates and the Republican situation right now. Go read it.
