Food Best Vegan Controversy Ever!!! (UPDATED)

Well, consider my subscription to VegNews Magazine cancelled! As first reported by QuarryGirl, and picked up by the O's resident vegan Grant Butler, the all-vegan periodical has been photoshopping non-vegan stock photography to make it look bland and tasteless humane.

I only kid, vegans. That's shitty journalism (also, is VegNews pronounced with a hard "G" sound or a soft one? Seems like that could get confusing). P.S. I had some of your pizza last week. I liked it.

I had vegan wings at Fire on the Mountain. I've been saying for a while now how awesome it would be to put a fake bone inside a fake hot wing, but they actually did it. I couldn't tell what it was, some kind of tough fibrous thing, like a root or perhaps a petrified piece of celery, and it was an amazing, transcendental experience.

Teapot Vegetarian House in Seattle has these amazing Rose Drumettes, made with gluten and tofu with rose sauce wrapped around sugar cane stalk that I think of as the bones, which are fun and tasty to chew on.

People read VegNews?

Jesus, my vegan ass has got to get to Fire on the Mountain then. That sounds amazing, Mr. Terminizer. There was a vegan cart near PSU that was doing wings with lemongrass sprigs as the bones. They were so good. But the place was a bit expensive for everything else and they are now closed.

Also! Well played Vegan Baiting, Mr. Perez. But, I will not fall for your trap. And no, I'm not coming to NW Portland to get hit on by you, either. **snubs**

When will vegans, stupidly idealistic of course, wake up and realize that not only do animals consume each other - but even the stars consume each other.
All part of nature.
Nature itself is cruel. And we are just as much a part of it.

I read Fire on the Mountain, by the great Terry Bisson, cover-to-cover and saw nothing about vegan wings.

TEAPOT! One of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Seattle. Still around, I assume?

Vegans/vegetarians: a little research will reveal that many, many awesome meat-serving restaurants in town serve some of the best vegan/veg dishes. If you can handle the presence of flesh, seek them out rather than settling for veg-only restaurants specializing in gunk slopped in goopy peanut sauce.

The way humans obtain the meat they consume is entirely natural. All predators form complex societies in which small groups take on the various tasks of getting the prey to the dens and lairs of the other predators (the overwhelming majority of whom never hunt), including corralling thousands of their prey into feedlots, slaughtering, butchering, delivering the carcasses to stores. All animals that consume other animals do this. Therefore, vegans are stupid.

I was at Fire on the Mountain about a year and a half ago. I don't recall them having vegan wings at the time. But, my memory isn't the greatest thing in the world. I recall their sauces being damn fine.

I just watched the 1996 documentary "Fire on the Mountain" twice and there wasn't a single vegan wing in the whole damned picture.

@Fruit Cup: I was there about a year ago, and as I recall, the vegan wings then were just frozen vegan nuggets with BBQ sauce. I haven't been back.

Fire on the Mountain just added the vegan option to the menu in the last few months, previously the nonmeat option was vegetarian.
