They're much taller because on this tour Miley is also paying homage to one of her favorite literary works, Eaters of the Dead.

I want her to know that when you are famous, it is okay to change the key so that you are not singing so low that it sounds like there is a tongue depressor down your throat. Or maybe that is just her.
