Eagles, Beer, Zydeco, and Glowing Bugs

Posted by Courtney Ferguson on Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 3:29 PM

I'm not sure why this combination of words is hitting my sweet spot, but the prospect of Eagles, beer, zydeco, and phosphorescent insects, all in one location, makes me kind of giddy. This Friday at the magical Eagles Lodge (4904 SE Hawthorne), professional entomologist Don Ehlen brings his collection of insects, arthropods, and invertebrates for audiences to marvel over, underneath the phosphorescence of a trippy black light. Then dust off your jitterbug shoes for the zydeco bump of the New Iberians afterward. Did I mention how cheap the beer is at the Eagles Lodge? Criminally affordable.

I hope we get to see this arthropod under the black lights.
