Portland / Gossip Portland Was (Maybe) Flooded With Celebrities Last Weekend

Rumors were swirling over the weekend about spottings of both Johnny Depp and Drew Barrymore hanging out on the streets of Portland, as reported by Byron Beck. (Oh just embrace the quaint.) The Merc's own Marissa Sullivan came bursting in this morning to announce that she saw Barrymore on SE Hawthorne herself. The Depp thing sounds a little shakier, with speculations that Depp was visiting his (potentially nonexistent) home in Southern Oregon and/or attending induction ceremonies at the Oregon Cartoon Institute. Barrymore, meanwhile, was spotted at Beast (remember when she was vegan?), Oui Presse, and Pix. Did anyone else catch a glimpse?

Beast does occasional vegetarian meals. Not sure about vegan, though.

Two Twitter friends saw her on Hawthorne too! WHILE I WAS WATCHING GOING THE DISTANCE.

Okay, so I had a cup of coffee at Oui this weekend, and now I'm upset that I missed an opportunity to give a star a dose of some uppity, rude, hipper-than-thou Portland "hospitality."

Yeah, but still not as good as a couple months ago when Robert Plant rode the #14 Tri-Met and got off at 30th and Hawthorne, then walked up to my friend's tea shop to buy a few things.

Funny, there was a dude who looked like Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean meets Chocolat) at Laughing Planet on Mississippi the other day. Friday? I don't think it was him.
