OMSI After Dark: The Beer-y Version

Posted by Courtney Ferguson on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 10:44 AM

  • Science!

Getting drunk is not only a magical experience, it's scientific too! Just ask the fine drunkards at OMSI tonight, where they'll be hosting an adults-only evening of drinking and sciencing. Learn all about the physics of beer pong, view hops and yeast under a microscope (am I the only one that would love to have a microscope at home to look at banal household stuff? And boogers... what?! I bet they look interesting up close.), and learn the basics of homebrewing with expert F.H. Steinbart from Portland's oldest home-brew supply store. Suds from local breweries will be on tap, including Burnside Brewing, Pelican Pub & Brewery, Fort George Brewery, Hopworks, and more. The cafe has beer-infused specials including bratwurst, poutine with cheese curds, and the ubiquitous wedge salad (garnished with hefeweizen poached eggs). Plus trivia, a food cart, aroma science, hops-growing advice, and more beer. Sounds like a gluttonous evening, brew dogs.
