This Week's Mercury Music Section

Posted by Ezra Ace Caraeff on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 8:18 AM

The Flaming Lips

Another week, another Mercury music section to read while you listen to Dell Computers rip-off a Broken Bells song. Then again, didn't Broken Bells rip off us Shins fans? No? Okay, I'll stop here.

A live show like a children's birthday party on acid, gigantic hand props, human hamster balls, confetti cannons, Furries, six-hour songs, music incased in gummy candy... The Flaming Lips have lost their way. More (good) music and less spectacle, is that too much to ask?

The Flaming Lips - "The Sound Of Failure"

Not only are they responsible for the best video ever, Montreal's Young Galaxy take pride in completely reinventing themselves from one album to the next. No, really. Every band says that, but they actually do it.

End Hits: In a Priest Driven Wambulance
