I kid, I kid. There's so much more to Star Trek: The Next Generation than Jean-Luc Picard's camel toe! Like everyone else's camel toes, because in the 24th century, space-uniforms look super uncomfortable. But I digress: Yay for Next Generation! Ever since the series showed up on Netflix Instant, I've been watching little else, as my horrifyingly depressing late-night Twitter output will, sadly, prove. Aside from my steadily decreasing amounts of both sleep and self-respect, the only drawback is that it looks like all the episodes have been pulled off a bootleg VHS.

But not for long: As has been rumored for a while, a few episodes of TNG are gonna be released on Blu-ray this January, followed by season-long releases starting later in 2012. (So that means we can all skip the first few sets, since they'll consist of the show's first two execrable seasons.) Trekkies have been asking for this for a while, but it hasn't been easy: Since some cheap bastard made the decision to originally shoot TNG on video, it's taking a bit of work to get TNG to HD quality. I'm curious to see the results, and I'm also guessing where the discs will really shine will be with the special effects, which sound like they've been totally redone, much like happened with the original Trek a few years ago.

In conclusion, the threat of an HD Dr. Pulaski will haunt my nightmares forevermore.
